Nice pics, I think the last one does it for me. I feel the black frames are a tad heavy and detract slightly from the subject.

Thanks Moggy and Birdy, these are from camera and a vast improvement on before hand pics so i still have lots to work out but atleast i have some pics that i am happy with, straight from camera with no pp, just adlust exposure and crop, RAW to jpeg.

John - doesn’t everyone realise that it is the combination of D2X and SIGMA that gives results

Great pics BTW :)

nice shots BBJ. It looks like the D2X handles the red channel far better than the D70 does (which I guess is expected) !

beautiful BBJ, looks like you're finally getting a hang of the beast - the third does it for me as well, beautiful tones!

Lookin' sharp, flowers don't move so attaining good focus is much easier.

Guess you haven't seen flowers blowing in the wind :)

It can be painful at times to get a sharp image or have them blowing in and out of focus.

Wendelt, dont move? yeah right it was blowin it's guts out mate i had to wait for it to die down a bit to get these shots, 32 degrees and windy wrong times to be taking pics of these but still i was happy with them.

HAHAHA mate i was so shocked they way they turned out, i am starting to sort of work out a few things they we was so spoiled with the D70 in the way it worked. So now i after doing a few test today i now have an idea of what to do or start with.

Hi BBJ,

Your D2x pictures are very crisp and clear. It looks like you have nailed the AF on your D2x. May I ask, have you performed the D2x firmware upgrade and was there any noticeable improvement?

Also, I must say I am checking this forum from a laptop monitor so the colour representation is not truly accurate but I wanted to ask, are you happy with the colour of your images from your D2x? Which colour space do you use? Do you use a custom curve? And do you saturate in PP?

Congrats again on some nice shots. Sorry for all the questions.

Regards,

Mick.

Mick, i am starting to learn a bit more on how to get infocus shots as this has been the problem i had but mainly user error. I got that camera midnite and used it that day so really was out of box and tried using settings for D70, ok i did get a lot of shots ok but some OOF. I then the next do the upgrade and well really have not tried it so wouldn't notice any differance anyhow.

I am using sRGB and colour space 1, auto wb. I dont use custom curves or anything never have even with the D70 soit is all straight forward.
I sometime will saturate when i do my pp. pending on if i think it needs it but these pics straight out of camera and considering what i was getting are a lot better, ok they are not perfect but least these are starting to get in focus now and not so washed out like i had been getting.

This camera is a whole new ball game from the D70, we should be so lucky that we have been spoiled with the way our D70 worked and the great pictures we get from it but now have to work harder to acheive great pictures, but like everything once we have it sorted it wil come natrually.
I Hope.

Well done John. Certainly looks like you are getting there now! :) However I still find it incredible, especially after reading wendell's comments about his trials with the D2X, that such a fine and sophisticted machine is so unforgiving if not caressed, wined and dined! Reasons/excuses aside this still :o me a little. Either way the results once mastered are superb as various members have demonstrated. Keep it up John can't wait to see some real action sequences of the motorsports
cheers
marco

John, these look spot on - as Aussie Dave mentioned, no burned reds with the 2X unlike the D70 which tends to blow the red channel quite early (about 1 stop before green or blue). Did you happen to repeat the shoot with the D70?
