This is a old shot from an English garden in the summer....
I have no idea what the flower is, but it looks like some form of alien life.
Let me know if anybody can identify it.
I used a very narrow DOF, as I only wanted the very centre of the flower to be in focus.
I sort of like it, mainly the weird shape, the detail and the colours.

yep it is a passionfruit flower, dunno what its propper name is tho? i have them in my backyard.

Well done Marty. The only comment I'd make is that IMO the eyes tend to not quite know what to look at in terms of sharpness. There are sections of sharpness but , for me no real focus for the eyes but the image does have an overall appeal. I wonder if, and I know you were trying to get a certain perspective, having taken the shot more in parallel with the sensor plane might have produced more of a band of sharpness for the eyes to connect with?

These are passion fruit flowers. They are quite fashionable to have in gardens in England. They are seen often in the summer. I'm guessing they are some hybrid strain that can hack the English weather because I think they originate from much warmer places!! Nicely taken, but perhaps a slightly higher f number would stop the DOF blurring that confuses my eyes!!
