Hi,

having my lunch today, this plane did a fly by, then it did another one, so I got my camera

This was taken from our balcony that looks south. I have never taken photos of airplanes before, but it was fun waiting for it as I saw it circle over the ocean for another pass along the cliff here at Redhead. Also, most of my subjects tend to be stationnary, but it was fun taking it. Went to the edge of the cliff, waiting for it to do another pass, it looked like it was going to, but at Swansea, instead of coming back along the beach, it went over Lake Macquarie

The plane is a Consolidated PBY Catalina. The Historical Aircraft Restoration Society owns it. More info about the plane can be found here:

It didn't come out as sharp as I had hoped, but it was windy

Probably would go for slower shutter speed, next time, if I have time to think about it. Live and learn :)

Cheers,

My only gripe would be the frame, it's too big and black and detracts from the main subject (which is a bit dark anyway). Otherwise a good shot.

8) Bob.
