Trippy! Strange affect with bits in focus and others other bits aren't in focus. Getting good depth of field would be really difficult with such a dynamic three dimensional subject.

That is a fantastic shot - I thinks it adds another dimension with having just the head in focus. Would look great large.

Awesome shot!
I also think that the border you put around it suits this type of photo.

Wow, great shot. It's too bad the focus seemed to have just barely missed the eye though, otherwise this would be something straight out of a magazine.

Dooda.. i wish the eye was clearer... but when i look at the original the eye is fairly sharp.. could be better... hopefully... next time..

The "in focus out of focus" makes it look even more creepy - kinda cool imo.

Cripes! The 105mm has just gone up a notch in priority on my shopping list.

The 100% crop may not be "perfect" but it's impressive enough to me, and I'd like to do my own shots like this. Keep at it Tim.

Great shots Tim that really utilises and challenges the old keep things in the same focal plane for sharpness throughout. I like the differential focus you created utilising this principal. I thingk the last one's a real ripper!

Excellent work. A 180mm would be great but I think I'd love a Sigma 150 F/2.8 I've heard it is a really sharp and versatile lens.
cheers

That Mantis was in the process of hunting down a moth on the same plant... so he wasnt happy when i stuck the camera in his face to say g'day
