Hello,
Started processing first of my photos from the recent trip to Thailand these 3 are from Phuket. Unfortunately weather wasn't at its best hence the sky. Which one of the two below do you prefer? These were taken at Kata beach if anyone is interested.
or
a lone fisherman - not sure if this one works. Heavily cropped.
Thanks for any comments/ critique.

Welcome back Alex!
I prefer the first one, but not as much sky...more towards a 3:1 pano crop. The blue is a bit pale but then I'm just basing it on the usual deep blue and green heavily saturated tropical pics I've seen
I like the fisherman pic, but since it's b&w, I'd suggest playing for with the shadows and highlights to get more oomph out it.

with regard to your pics .. thers something a litle pale / cold in the white balancing of the image, did you shoot raw ? maybe try warming things up a bit?
great spot in the world

Thanks for your comments/ suggestions, guys.
Christian: I know what you mean, it will take me ages. I've seen your first one or two posts with Vietname photos? Did you post anymore after that?
Darb: certainly a great location, I agree, still looks even better (renovated) after the tsunami last year.
Wayne: Can see what you mean about the sky, the weather was crap that day. I have a few better ones from another day (to be posted later).

All three pics have style Alex:
Critique:
#1 and #2 - straighten the horizon
#3 - if this pic was taken in the RAW format go back to the original and try to do the conversion with less noise (as seen in his right arm and chest area) - this is the pic I like the most

Chirs, thanks for the comments. I knew something was not right about those horizons, I can never get them straight - it bothers me. How do you train yourself to take straight hand held images?
As for the fisherman's image the image is heavily cropped, to the point that it did not need to be re-sized for web - this of course contributed to the noise. I take your point and will try to minimise it, however, I sort of liked the noisy look of it, suits the character, but I may be totally off track here.

The second one looks great did you bump up the saturation a little?.
If so was it on the camera or in PP?

Thanks for the comments glasseye and Juztin.
Glasseye: Yes, I bumped up the saturation quite a bit, in PP.
Juztin: we had a great trip. Travelled a lot. Pity it rained a lot at times though.
Cheers
