It is a very sharp lens, even at 1:1. This is shot is only slightly horzontally cropped, not vertically.

Tamron 90 picI haven't been using my Tamron much, but at the thought of selling it I put it on today:
![]() It is a very sharp lens, even at 1:1. This is shot is only slightly horzontally cropped, not vertically. HB
Beautifully crisp clean colours and cuts like a razor. Apart from reach I really don't think you are going to gain anything with sharpness with the 105 Nikkor Heath. Terrific shot.
cheers marco
Thanks marco - you are right - you do have to get pretty close for 1:1!
Here is another - they were all handheld - this one I missed the focus a bit through too narrow an aperture - but I am posting it because of the little spit bubble - or is it drool? ![]() HB
wow amzingly detailed shot at 1:1,i actualy saw many shots of tamron but didnt saw such sharped one.previously i saw average shots of tamron on photosg wich leads me to buying sigma.the seocnd one great, specialy handheld keeping focus.you must realy patient then.kool

You can see the reflection in the bubble and air bubbles, clever little bee!

The D200 plus a battery grip is bigger and heavier than the D2x. I would think that this would make it better for hand-held macros - easier to steady ones hands.

heath...... are you sure you do not want to haggle..........well a little....

Smart decision Heath. I don't think you'll get a macro sharper than the Tamron. It's a recognised pearler of a lens.
![]() Gee I didn't think the addittion of a grip on the d200 would make it that bulky? Now it all rests on the autofocus reviews ![]() cheers marco
go on ... start a honey factory, heath will get the bees........ Cheers ....bp....

Great pics HB.
Marco - the focussing system on the D200 will be better than the D70 for sure - believe me ![]() Chris

Just in case you are not joking - I am refering to sensor dust. This Tamron is protected by Mr Hoya.

Wow - How can you part with a lens that is that good.
Of course your skills behind it are also on a par with the quality of the lens HB. V. Nice fly and bees. Steve (Nikon D200/D700)

Excellent, impressive shots, Heath.
![]() I don't know how you guys do that. Even with my 180mm, the insects won't allow me to get that close. I spent many hours in the attempt, this past summer. It's very frustrating. ![]() ![]() my gallery of so-so photos

Thanks all.
