Matt - remember what I said to you yesterday? I'm sure you do!
You have talent and LOADS of ability! Great shots! The jumper is my fave by a long shot ![]() Geoff
Special Moments Photography Nikon D700, 50mm 1.4, 85mm 1.4, 70-200 2.8VR, SB800 & some simple studio stuff.
RE the sky issue: play with the polariser setting (ie. rotate the filter) and bracket your shots and you might find some not as 'offensive' as those colour shifts. It tends to get like that shooting wider angles (which is partly why there's no real purpose for fitting CPLs to wide angle lenses).
Tha Manly Ferry one has a touch of Titanic with eerie-ness mixed in. QVB breakfast - I found it too 'busy', no 1 aspect that should be the focal point/subject.
Matt these are great, you said you only had 3 or 4 keepers, bah! Looks like you have plenty
![]() #1 Love the perspective, the colour in the sky doesn't bother me too much, just like the lines in the wharf leading towards the viewing binocs! #2 I like number 2, but I kind of wish my hand didn't look so mong, the spacing between the my fingers is a little kooky. But the colour and lighting is real nice (Onyx this certainly was no titanic scene) ![]() #3 Great timing, good composition and nice a sharp, excellent stuff! #4 Nice birds eye view, love the "almost symmetry" and the detail in the floor #5 Interesting curve, but overall doesn't do much for me #6 Really like the B&W and the line of tables and chairs, for me this is a top shot and a definite keeper...(along with the jumper) #7 Nice clear colours and some interesting graffiti, good catch
Matt
A great selection of pics from a great day. #1 - excellent perspective shot. You are right about the sky, but that can be fixed with Photoshop and a bit of cloning to even things out. The lucky thing here is there are no clouds so getting a uniform blue should be reasonably easy #2 - Wow - saw this on your camera, but it looks awesome on screen. This is an inspired shot with a really eerie, ethereal quality to it. The colours work well with the strong black silhouettes and give the image fantastic impact. #3 - Looks like I'm the only one who didn't get one of these (mine were all blurry ![]() #4 - This one doesn't work for me. I think it's the lighting in the shot which seems to conflict with the arrangement of the scene. #5 - Another fantastic pic. This has a really strong composition to it and is a great example of your eye for the different. I love the beautifully framed sweep of the awning on this. #6 - I'll not even bother with my version of this pic. The DOF is perfect and the B & W treatment really works with the shot. Only drawback from an otherwise strong shot is the man in it (I like the woman in it), but it's only a minor thing. Overall I like the shot. #7 - This one also doesn't grab me. It's a strong image in a sense, but just doesn't retain my interest. I took a pylon pic too (it's around here somewhere) and it suffers from the same problem. Guess that means I like 5 of these. Now show us the also rans ![]() ![]() Peter
