Go Karts...

For me it was a big weekend. A friends wedding on Saturday and Go Karts on Sunday. So I decided to go out and try something different. after doing some reading here I shot in 'manual' for almost the whole weekend, and was playing with spot metering (esp for the wedding) and shutter speeds and getting everything working in harmony. And I enjoyed the new challenge (it was for me anyway!)
heres just a couple from the karts. I have 750 shots from the weekend to look at tonight so might post some more later.

They look pretty good to me Jonesy  Maybe you should have saved the first one for the current "Movement" challenge, with that rear wheel lifted it really gives it a moving feel.

Talking of the first image, try cloning out that OOF grass in the foreground just to tidy it up a bit.

Hi Jonesy

Good shots go karts can be tough as they move quickly but are small in size ( well I found them like that)

Jonesy: looks great!

1: Wheels in the air + movement = winner. :)
2: The expressions on their faces make this one. Can't 'feel' the speed as much, but the faces nearly make up for it.
3: Hmm. At first I though this was crap, as it looks like a crop where the rest of the pic didn't work out for some reason. Then I realised that it really emphasises the human aspect, with the car bits surrounding the human. I quite like it from that point of view.

Hey Jonesy, looks like you starting to get the hang of this mate as i new you would and yes you are getting better. Well plenty of practice can only help and you will be going there and without even thinking about what to try will put the camera into gear and fire away.

Took me awhile but i can go to diferent events and know exactly what settings to use at each event without trying to work it out.
Ok mate well keep it up. More oppisition for me, be doing me out of some work soon.
Cheers Mate

Thanks everyone, I think its the first time I have come home, looked my shots and been happy with almost all of them! :)

Johndec: sorry I was being lazy with the cloning, but I do agree (plus I need to get out to the track and cut the grass befor the next meeting)... and for the challenge I am looking at something else!

Jeff: they are small esp when you have the Juniors and Midgets flying past!

MCWB: thanks. I was going for the expressions for the second shot. And the 3rd has been cropped down, it was a plain shot but I felt that a close crop with the relection in the viser worked

BBJ: I think I am getting there now, also getting the practise and I'm still having fun. Now I have some orders for my big prints.

This one is a mozaic using 1000 images
