Three images from my weekend with Mr & Mrs Birddog & nnnnsic at Boat Harbour. The flowers are a weed that's in flower everywhere in the area at present. The two flower pics were taken across the road from birddog's holiday house. All three pics were taken with the 24-120 VR.

Hey Peter,
You sure make the 24-120VR shine!!
The master behind the lens, behind the camera.
Looks like you had a great time.
The 2nd flower shot does it for me. Well done matey!

Thanks Geoff.

The flowers were interesting subjects. I took lots of pics of theme and these were the best two. I think they show just how good the 24-120VR is as a walk around lens.

Well. Thought these were the best pics I took at the weekend and only 1 comment. Guess they were duds. I'll just sneak off into the corner and sob quietly

Stubbsy,

Thank you for giving me confidence in the 24-120VR again. After Loz canned it the other day I was unsure (i'm trying to decide on a new walk around type... as I don't have the kit lens). but these look great to me...

oh and I love the frog!

No need to cry Peter, it's a Monday so sometimes it's a bit slow, either people recovering from the weekend, or like me just busy with too much work.

I really like this study in Yellow, the flowers are really lovely, and I'm a fan of frogs so I don't mind it either. I wouldn't be too disappointed with a lower then usual sucess rate, sometimes the light, weather or other factors work against you, or just don't suit your particular style or technique.

A great walk around lens (although I'm sure others will disagree) is the beautiful 17-55DX 2.8 :)

Stubbsy, like the focus flower in the first two, but for me I find too much yellow left in the OOF background which bleeds into the focal flower and reduces its impact.

The fourth doesn't seem to work for me.

Jonesy, Craig & Glen. Thank you for your comments.

Jonesy - the early batches of the 24-120 VR had a reputation for softness, but the later ones (mine is about 6 months old now), while not ultra sharp, are pretty damn good. This is my favourite walk around lens.

Glen - the fourth shots was really there just to show the number of these weeds there are. Hadn't thought about it, but I see your point about the OOF yellow in the background.
