Here is my offering, looking back at this I think the sign detracts from it, but I was aiming to get the reflection and the sign.

Thank you. I actually like the sign in yours Craig, without it I don't think the shot would have worked.

Alpha_7,

That is good shot, but I would give you a suggetion: how if whole image will compose in the way that sign will looks like sticked at the top of the dome? That would bring few interpretations ;-)

K.Polak

Nice idea Krystian. Unfortunately I may be a year or more till I could revisit the scene for a different take on it, but I do think it would of made for an interesting shot. (the Orginal was a spare of the moment shot, on the way to our duck tour).

Hi everyone,

Some nice images posted to this thread. Have not posted images here for a while, but hope to be more regular.

Have tried to use the reflection of light through the eyes. Not sure if it qualifies.

Nosh.

Well worth the agro, kipper.
This is a magnificent nature shot. You've shown us some beauties, but this is a real pearler. Congratulations. :D

Cheers, I don't mind the ants and the other critters. Just was hoping no tiger snakes were going to move down to the lake to feed on frogs as I've read they like to come out at dusk and feed at night.

Took this almost 20 years ago from another baloon while 'leap frogging' with this one. Was a Nikon man even then.

I had so much trouble deciding which of 7 pics to put here.
In the end I decided on this one. (obviously...)

Image
18mm, f14, 1/800

Just another photo from the top of just another Tasmanian mountain...
Getting this shot meant spending the last hour of the walk back to the car by torchlight.
Or was it the bottle of wine on the summit...
Or all the other photos on the way up...
Hhmmm...

I have been watching and feasting on the information in this forum and am convinced that I have much more to learn. However, I am willing.

I would like to submit a photo. Firstly, may I or am I too new? And lastly, how do I upload an image for this forum?

Thanks-a-million

WElcome to the forum dk.
You are positively encouraged to submit a shot. Have a look at this thread

You're never too new to post an image... in fact it's encouraged. Full instructions on posting an image are contained in the sticky threads at the top of the Image Critique section. Shout if you need any specific help.

I'm not sure why my image is not displaying. I'm certain I followed the instructions correctly.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

I'll wait to hear from someone before I repost the image.

Thanks.

It was displaying just after you posted it... Now the link doesn't seem to work.
Double check the URL of the photo again and edit your original post... Another reason could be that fotki doesn't allow hotlinking directly to the image.

If we want to keep these monthly themes going, then Alpha7 needs to set a new theme thread for December...

What do you mean about December's theme? It's half way of December and most of us will be relaxed by the end of next week, perhaps give it a month off and start it fresh in Jan 06.

Well that gives me longer to think of a theme... if people do want some time to relax over the Xmas period.

Hi,

I was just thinking of the ES series this morning when looking at reflections on the water at the beach this morning.

A month' s break may not be a bad idea. The alternative is to have a Christmas theme, like Christmas food, Christmas lights, one can go on and on....

Cheers,

radar

How about a half-month "Season's Greetings" theme?

I would hate, as a Jewish administrator of this site, to be told to take Christmas photos... 8)

While I was sitting at a pub in Darlinghurst the other night drinking with friends, I looked out to the banners outside the courthouse and read the phrases on them...

What I found interesting was it said things like "Happy Christmas" quite frequently and "Seasons Greetings" even going so far as to include what looked like the Cantonese and Russian translations for "Season Greetings"... the surprising thing that it lacked was a simple "Happy Chanukah" anywhere...

Can we please update this one for Feb/March. Either that or remove this sticky notice. If you need an idea - then i would suggest "botany".

Thanks
