Hi Justin
China is an interesting place to visit, isn't it? I like your people pix best Justin, especially #3 & #4. I think some enhanced contrast might improve the first two, as they are a little flat. Thanks for posting. TFF (Trevor)

They are all great but 3 & 4 for me. There aren't enough pictures of yak herders in this world.

Hi Justin,
Just visited your website and very surprised that you went to many places in China. And you went to Xiahe - Labrang monastery. No many Chinese people went there not to say Australian. You had to drive few hours from Lanzhou and the mountains suddenly became stiff. We I saw pictures 2,3,4 and it is very similar to me. I went to Xia He four times by myself and love the place. It is better than Tibet as the people are very kind and plain. In Lasha, Tibet, people will ask you money if you take picture of them. But people in Xiahe is just smile at you. I think that you have great time there. Poeple there are very poor but they are happy. ![]() ![]() -------------- Regards Poon
Justin some nice pics you have captured, esp in the country side....I love China and its so photogenic

We had a great time - from Xiahe we went a few hours west and stayed at a home-stay on the Ganjia grasslands, which was a fantastic experience in the walled village. If anyone is interested, it was the Wild China tour with Intrepid - and my partner and I have rated it the best holiday ever. Lots of travel and overnight trains though! I am seriously considering giving it all up and becoming a tour guide

Justin,
Exactly as what you said. Only when you visit there and you have that feeling. It belongs to another world of this earth. They are poor but have have peace of mind and happy. They don't know this material world. Love to go there again. You went more places than I. You can be a guide there. --------- Regards Poon
G'day,
You have some great images there that will bring back many memories, of those in this thread I like the first, the contrast of the lone monkey balancing on the chain against the stark background and the last for a great timing capture, well done... Aka Andrew
These are far more than tourist shots to me!! Love 1 and 4. Awesome. Looking forward to checking out your pbase pics. Thanks for sharing.

Justin,
I think #1 is superb. The tone, and the simplicity of shot make it for me. The colours on the wall are beautifully de-saturated, along with the writing, which really highlights the monkey and the chain. Wonderful. The only thing which is distracting me is the bottom right hand corner. Looks like a lions ear or something. I think cropping it wouldn't work as it would make the chain too low in the frame. Perhaps cloning it out? Matt
