Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Hey Dug, I use flickr too... Are you trying to link to a specific photo? You need to link to the actual JPG address, like this:

http://static.flickr.com/30/55536704_260559e60f.jpg

You can get the addresses to the various sizes by clicking on "All Sizes" and then choosing the size you want... from there, it should say underneath the image "Grab the photo's URL", where it will have the direct link.

Hope that helps!
Anthony

Layla is a friend I used her shot as a test photo. I don't actually like the photo, I prefer the one with the sawfish teeth.

I believe they now use acrylic paint though some of it smeared with sweat so may have been a powdered water colour paint .

Thanks for the comments glad you liked the shots they are the pick of the first DVD of images taken on the first day. 2 more days and lots more images to go so I am looking forward to seeing them it takes a while to get into the feel of such an event it evolves as you shoot.

Loz where are you off to in PNG? these are taken at the show in Goroka a once a year event. there are LOTS of opportunities to shoot but be aware of your gear and your personal security.

I took a polaroid 600 camera to give some shots to the dancers and locals IT WENT OFF!!!! BIG TIME!!!! people loved it and love having their photos taken If you travel to third world countries carry a polaroid camera it is a great ice breaker with the locals.

Again Thanks for your comments.

Did this work?

If it did the polaroid was an amazing way to introduce yourself.

Most people would offer gifts like beads or stuff as exchange for them.

I got offered lunch several times but was too busy to share the local food  :D

I did not want food poisoning while I was up there.

Dug, fantastic images of a fantastic race of people. The real beauty of the images lies in the smiles of your subjects. They seem genuinely happy to have their portraits taken.

Well done and i will revisit your website as you add more photos to it.
