I'm fairly sure this is a juvenile Lesser Crested Tern.

Comments appreciated.

I really like this shot - I think that the redish colour of the rocks really helps this image as they contrast nicely with the more neutral colours on the bird. Nice to see that the white feathers aren't overexposed.
Say, do you think the bird might have an inferiority complex from being the "lesser" crested turn?

Pleased you like it Kinetic. I was particularly conscious of not blowing out the highlights so I'm happy with the result.

Not sure if he knows he's only the "Lesser" variety. I won't tell if you don't.

Nice low angle and the exposure seems great considering it's basically a black and white bird, which would be a nightmare for exposure... Good detail, well done.

Thanks Andrew. I was actually lying flat on the ground nearby. I didn't want to spook the birds; there were some terns, gulls and a small flock of sandpipers. I'll be posting a shot of them soon....
