Different Pano

Here is a different slant on panos. A closeup version.

Two closeups stitched to give a single quality image. No cropping. To get the same effect with a single frame it would need to be cropped in half.

Thinking of using the technique for large wide prints of various foliage.

impressive attempt :)

I'd imagine dof issues would be extremely hard to deal with here - and I'm impressed you've got it as clear as it is. Would love to see a full version, especially around the join ;)

How did you go about this? Did you plant the tripod and turn (as usual) or move the tripod (in which case the dof issues I refered to above would be extreme!)?

Thanks Stubbsy, Matt.

Sheepie, I kept the tripod in the same spot with the camera positioned in the middle of the branch.

I had the lens fully stopped down (f/40.0 in the exif) which helped with the DOF with shutter speed of 1/5s. Lens was Tamron 70-300 Macro.

The full version is 7.4M which is just a bit big to upload but it is virtually impossible to see any join.

Nice job joining the images slider. The second one looks quite out of focus, you've done a good job making it sharp in the final product.

Thanks Owen. I was quite happy with the way it ended up.

And thanks for the tip BP. The more info the better. :D

Good to see something different as a pano it works well, joined well too, can't see any joining affects, nice and sharp and detailed.

Out of curiosity which software was used for the stitching?

Andrew, I used Pano Factory. Works pretty well for most things. Gets a bit odd with longer lenses though.
