Took this shot of the new mother at the Adelaide Zoo today, glad to see it is just as tiresome for the primates as us..

The new upgrade will not be finished before christmas, so this tiger shot will have to do until then, for those of you who know this enclosure, it is a tough one to get a decent photo out of it..

Here is a pic of the underside of the blue macaw....

Very nice Big V. That enclosure makes it very hard. I can't wait for the new one.

Good job. They're tricky to catch.

What is it that so many have against CONTEXT and structural elements of DESIGN?

For me the tree anchors and segments the picture space to save it from being just another frame filling exercise in objectivity. It also provides an indication of scale and elevation.

As usual, Big V has done a most accomplished job of capturing some of the allure of the zoo and the breadth of subject matter in just this single post trumpets his ability to master many situations while NOT making typical zoo pictures that reveal the fabric of the enclosures. etc.

Cheers,

Great work all round big V. The tiger is especially well captured.

Big V,

I have been having my regular morning global jaunt of photo haunts and have returned several times now to have another look at that richly symbolic simian Madonna and Child. I find it very special - well seen and well captured.

Cheers,

G'day BV,
Terrific images, it's always tricky trying to get good shots that look natural in a captive Zoo environment, the tiger's great but the Baboon(?) mother and child is excellent. A great moment well captured.

Thanks for the kind words, The tree was deliberatley not cropped out of the picture because it gives a frame of reference to the location of the macaw for those that have been to the Adelaide Zoo. These things are only flying about 1.5m of the ground and to get this shot, I had to sit in the gutter next to the pelicans...the things we do. The mother and child was a shot that just had to be taken but I had to wait for the the sun to co-operate as you have to shoot through glass and wait for the relections to move. That is the same deal with the tiger. When the new section is completed I think you will see soem very impressive shots by all..once again, thanks
