I like it the texture reminds me of a rock painting, I think it really suits the subject.

I, too, like this and think the PP treatment works very well for the subject. It raises a question for me though:

Is this still a photograph?

Peter - I would say yes to it being a photograph. It’s a wee bit like Mr Bean’s hatred of the three wheeler - is it a car? Yes it is

It was the best I could do, as soon as the little guy saw me coming, camera ready - he buried himself and puffed up his spines Peter - interesting question ..... to me it is still a photo, but I guess it would be seeing I took it. But if it's not a photo.. what is it? (and personally, I love the three wheeler car !!!, but then again, I drive a kombi, so I would ) LOL

For me I guess there's a point in PP where something stops being a photo and becomes art (a picture perhaps?). For me this is beautiful art, rather than a beautiful photo (nothing wrong with that) since it is no longer representational of what a viewer could see. BTW for me a digital composite is (generally) still a photo since it seems like something a person might view.

Finally - I have no axe to grind, photo or art - if it gives me pleasure viewing it, or it stimulates me that's all that matters

I love it! And I think it's still being a photo.Photo-art maybe.

For comparison, this is the same set up with the original photo instead of pastel filter. They are pretty close, but the pastel brings out more texture in the image (just my opinion). Peter - thank you for making me think

I've just spent at least 2 minutes scrolling between these two images. I like them both!! I do, howvere, really like the effect the pastel filter gives. It gives them impression of greater depth.
As Chris said - print it and show it off to everyone. Its a ripper!!
