Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Whatever it is that you're saying about my son ... I think the answer is "yes".

And John, the answer for you, too, is "yes". The more, the merriererer.

Leigh and I are keeping a score on all of these, and the winner will be reciving a very special prize. :)

Brilliant Leek - and Mark, it is very weird that all three dogs look the same ........ there is a line there, but I can't use it :)

It appears that fototime has died, so all my photos have disappeared :( And I had another 2 to upload ...... so it'll have to wait until the site comes back up (maybe I've broken it with so many photos of Leigh !!!!!)

Mark / Rel... I have to ask... What techniques tools have you used to do some of the images you posted??? Mine was a quite simple 2-layer job with a bit of blurring around the edges...

Yours seem top match texture and colouring as well...

I have a great composite in mind - I'm just looking for some guidance to blend it perfectly...

I think that's an excellent question John since my sole effort was along the same lines as you. There's something to be learned here.

I then play with contrast, hue, colour balance, and levels...

We're intending to produce a tutorial on this, to illustrate some of the techniques that have been put to use.

As entertaining, and as much fun, as this thread is, it also is perhaps one of the most valuable threads we've seen in this forum, because of the different techniques and possibilities it has raised.

And yes, like both Peter and John, my effort was a very simple one, and I look forward to seeing the tutorial as well.

Yup.

I've been working on these while writing a review, and since I'm almost done with the review, I'll get to work on a tutorial afterwards while I do my other work.

It's actually quite easy to do. :)

That would be fantastic, would really love to learn the techniques involved. Perhaps we could have exercise using a random head creatively.... Someone who is usually photographed with a blank stare comes to mind.

The trick is to find a transplant that'll fit that angle of face... You did well!
