Adding a Signature to Profile

Postby mal from cessnock on Fri Jul 07, 2006 9:57 pm

Hi all, I'm new to this forum - only joined today.

My name's Mal from Cessnock and I'm having difficulty in working out how to ad a signature to my posts.

I've been to my profile at...
http://www.dslrusers.com/profile.php?mode=editprofile

and can't find where the signature block field is. In other php forums it's usually in the interests and occupation area of the profile page...

but, I give up. I can't find it anywhere.

Can you people pls help?

Malcolm

Half way down the page you get when you click Profile:

Signature:
This is a block of text that can be added to posts you make. There is a 4 line, and 255 character limit. Graphics are not permitted in signature blocks.

Hi Mal,

welcome to the forum, good to see another Hunter member :D

Your should see a signature box part way down the list.

There are a few of us from the Hunter on these forums. Enjoy your time here,

cheers,

André

Trust me Peter, it's not there.

Trust me Peter, it's not there.

From memory it's the last field before the Avitar section. But it's not there on this forum atm.

I've checked other forums, (tonight) that I use and I don't have any prob finding it there.

Are you invisible Peter? Didn't see you on the "online" list

Cheers, Mal from Cessnock

I wonder whether there's a software glitch.

Postby mal from cessnock on Fri Jul 07, 2006 10:30 pm

Could this have something to do with it. There's red text after the Location text in the Location field. I wonder whether there's a software glitch.

Location. * :This should be meaningful and something along the lines of suburb and city for Australian members is REQUIRED.

I'm drawing at straws here, 'cause I can't figure out why I don't see the signature field when I look at Profile

Cheers,

Mal from Cessnock BTW the error with my suburb this arvo was a typo :)

Where it says that it should allow you to add a signature unless Gary or Leigh have it setup to allow signatures after a certain amount of posts on the forums

That would be a strange way to have it set up?

Kinda if you are prepared to stick around, then we'll let you save yourself the bother of having to enter your tag each time.

Ta :)

I purchased a Teddy Bear this morning for the sum of $10. I named him Mohammed. This afternoon I sold him on E-Bay for $30. My question is, "Have I made a prophet?"

Actually Obzelite, he's probably right.

Last I recall, we have something set up that stops people from creating signatures until they've made a few posts here.

Malcom,
Welcome! and enjoy your stay.

Peter is not far away from where you are, same as Radar, few clicks and they're at your front door, but please have the best Hunter Shiraz and Cab-Sav ready on the table for them and me too

What Leigh said is correct.

The signature field is now suppressed until you reach 30 posts.

That's a measure to prevent the scammers and spammers that try to register here: they use scripts to try to automate the procedure, but our code has been modified to try to cause their scripts to crash. Given that we've only had one such registration on the last three weeks, I suspect it's working.

That's discouraging

Glad to be your "test case".

and here everyone's prolly thinking I'm blind cause I didn't see what wasn't there :x

30 posts before I can add my signature and website details. That's discouraging.

Cheers

Mal,

You're far from the test case; this was done a while ago, and we're constantly adding to our measures to try to prevent spammers from registering here.

When I said that we've only had one spammer here in the last three weeks, I should clarify that point, and add that that's when I last uodated the source with the latest measures; the signature (and website) restirictions have been in place for a couple of months now, and I think we've only had one other comment about it in that time.

I'm sorry if you believe this to be inconvenient, but I think you'd like it far less if Olga started to send you letters about breast and penis enlargements, and if Dr MICHAEL NGWHARIE kept on your back about his US$25million that he wants to share with you, simply because we permitted them to join us here.

I can assure you that I would be far less happy.
