Re: Zeiss discovers auto focus!

Pardon me if I'm thick, but the link refers to Lens data being sent back. No mention of auto-focus..

article wrote:Carl Zeiss is upgrading eight of its F-mount lenses by adding an electronic interface (CPU), allowing full support of automatic exposure modes and the inclusion of lens-related data to EXIF.

Is this the right link, or did I misread the article, or did you?

thanks for the link. appreciate you looking out. :)

not really that big a deal though, the only benefit i can see is the lens info in exif. with a d200/300/700 you get metering anyway. this change would be a major advantage to the level down from that, (d80, d90 etc), that cant meter Ai type lens'.

OK. I didn't know this amount of detail. They just need to put their foot down and work on the AF don't they?

To incorporate forum behaviour which I detest... :agree:

Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935.

No more manual lens input required...that is a HUGE plus for anyone who has a D200 or a D2 series camera, even with a D3/300/700 it means you can free up your manual lens data bank for other lenses. Shame about AF though.
