D700 Killer (No wait... D3S Killer)

Postby surenj on Sun Oct 16, 2011 6:19 pm

When the D700 is finally about to become obsolete, Canon, in their infinite wisdom, will release their answer. This camera will have

Behold...the 3D  (well, it's about time as we've been waiting 20 years for a 3D)

What a breath of fresh air... :violin:

No one will buy the D700 anymore.

D700 Killer

Those are the specs for the rumoured new 1 series.
Reports say there won't be 1Ds and 1D anymore. 12 fps is pretty handy too.

I suspect everyone will be looking at the ISO performance closely.

I was trying to guess as to what the new name would be. It would be epic if they choose 3D because these days 2D just plain unkool. 1 is so yesterday.

8)

I'd expect at least 2 stops above the 5D. That would mean that ISO 25600 to be very very usable. We will have to wait another 2 days before we know...

I wonder about pricing? Would it be $5000 or so?

:biglaugh: Something tells me that 52000 ISO may be a typo....but the rest of the spec mirrors the spec that CanonRumors posted for an amalgamated 1D/1Ds line camera. The 18MP FX + 61Pt AF + 12fps does sound like a good combination though.

Isn't the entire gadget and feature devoted blogosphere eagerly awaiting a D700 killer - from Nikon?

I mean, after all these months the D700 isn't really capable of taking acceptable pictures anymore…

Cheers

Maybe not. 1D4 failed in this regard but perhaps the less pixels will make it possible?

When this camera hits the shelves, the D700 will stop focussing let alone take any pictures.

Wouldn't that make it competition for the D3/D3s rather than the D700?

Well, our D200 stopped working the moment the D300 was announced! Now I know why. :D

I just learnt that the D3s is 12 Mpix not 21 Mpix as I had thought all this time... (Not that it affects me at all)

So maybe the D3s will stop working...

The D800 will be a D700 and D3s killer: http://nikonrumors.com/2011/10/03/the-n ... lity.aspx/ well... maybe not if you want high ISO performance or fast continuous shooting.

Both of which the D3s has. I think Canon are trying to combine those factors with a 'relatively' high pixel count. ie combine 1D and 1Ds lines. Perhaps D800 will kill the D700.

I think the D700 will be quite safe as long as you don't put it in the same bag with a D700 killer… :)
