Hi, anyone with the 50 1.2 ??? I am trying to justify the price difference between the 1.2 and 1.4 so any real life experiences appreciated .
I hear it's a winner on the crop body as the edges can be a little soft full frame, and that it's sharp as ...

Laurence (Poon) brought one with him to Sydney when he was over here for PMA. Maybe someone else will be able to shed some light on this glass!

From my usage, the f1.2 focuses faster and definitely better build. And from the reviews online, all the technical image qualities are better with the f1.4, sharpness, better resistance to flare etc, although the difference in sharpness is pretty hard to differentiate if you're looking the photos side by side. Although one thing that can't be measured is that I love the isolation the f1.2, it'll really give you that pop, so I have to say although the technical qualities aren't as good, the pictorial qualities of the f1.2 is definitely worth it for me.

It's up to you if you think it's worth the money though.

It really depends on your style and what you are shooting. The f1.4 is a very nice portrait lens and sharp from 2.8 onwards. The f1.2 is a solid bit of kit, great for low light and shallow DOF but drops off the more you stop it down.

Guys who shoot shallow DOF don’t care is the edges are soft, they are going to be out of focus anyway. eg

Don't know much about the 1.2 (although it does sound promising from the quick bit of research I've just done) - I've got the 1.4 and admit that it's my "lens of the moment" - I'm shooting almost everything with it currently!

I got the 1.4 because I read it was a more versatile lens than the 1.2. I also checked:

After which I could not justify the extra money. I am quite happy with my 1.4. I just need to learn how to use it better.

1.4 is a superb lens but a tad tricky with regards to focussing, at least that's what I found. I shot a whole wedding with it last year (with the 10-22mm) and was extremely happy with the performance.

Having said that, if I could afford the 1.2 I would buy it in an instant (plus the 85 1.2), but for now, zooms will suffice.
