Update on Storm whistle purchase

Postby Matt. K on Mon Oct 27, 2008 10:03 pm

Due to the ridiculous state of the Australian dollar I intend to wait for 3 or 4 weeks before ordering the whistles. I don't think $10 is a reasonable price for a whistle. I, like others on this forum, believe the dollar will make a comeback shortly. It has been dumped by speculators in order to drive the price down so that they can buy it back at a 35% profit. If anybody wants to retract their order then please do so via this thread.

Matt, I commend your foresight! Try ringing Swanny for some insight on the dollar, he would know (or suggest you see Centrelink!)

Oz, these are for Armageddon, when NSW is out of money so there will be money for electricity for the mobile phone towers. On current performance - probably 3 months away.

We have a desal plant that simply must be built, but no roads, no bsues, no trains, no train lines.

I suspect that means that we should start looking at suitable boats, hence we also need lifejackets, and therefore whistles.

Sounds good to me, Matt.

Take your time Matt, in the meanwhile, I'll just have to keep shouting for the missus to bring my coffee and bikkies.

Matt, almost jumped for joy when I saw the dollar at 69 cents at about 4 this morning, I just knew I would be able to afford the whistles soon

Yesterday morning, on the (I think) 8am news, 2UE said the rate was US$0.97! :) Apparently, they received a phone call or three about that.
