well I just started my first classes for photo and the assisgnment topics are up. i really need some ideas and locations for some topics.

1. bulidings - shot of a whole or part of a building
thinking of the city- southbank using ir or airport at dawn.
don't really like the city cos it a bit unsafe during quite times

2. busy street - but must be from overpass/foot bridge
tried the suburan overpass but its no good during the day as most car are either slowing down to stop or moving from a complete stop. had a overpass looking at a taxi rank which is also at the airport which might prove intresting....

got some suggestions both at QV

1. Qv has different buildings close togather, some still underconstruction some finish. could make for interesting contrast.

2. QV during lunch time! QV is multi level, has public laneways. good vantage point could be from upper level foot bridge.

thats all i can think of right now

Redline, take the starting grid at the races from a point which looks like an overpass eg grandstand, or do any of the tracks have an overpass like Oran Park? Now that would be creative, starting grids look very busy and you would be the only one in the class with such a shot. Good luck

mmm i have been to oran park glen but didn't go to the starting grid.
so is the grand stand view a side on look at the cars head on?
theres a overpass at the airport which stimulates the same effect, cars pass directly under.

Grandstand is more of a side look, but taken with a 300mm it could be close to head on. Maybe stand on something at the end of the main straight wherever you are going this weekend and use a telephoto. Oran Park has an overpass sort of which looks like half a trye. Good luck

Here's a couple of things that may work for you:

Buildings - there are lots of old and interesting buildings in Melbourne CBD. You could focus on a particular part (rather than the whole) of an interesting or well-known building.

Overpass - are there any bridges over the river that would provide a viewpoint. What about the bridge at the top of St Kilda Road near the National Gallery? What about a railway bridge?

Good luck!

Shame you're not in the building industry like me :)

I could get onto a few construction sites and take photos.
